Bozhou is rich in agricultural products and resources. The main  crops are wheat, corn and soybeans. Bozhou is one of the major grain producing areas in China, with an annual production output of nearly 5 billion kg, accounting for one seventh of the province or 1% of the whole country. Main cash crops are traditional Chinese medicines, corn, peanuts, cotton and vegetables. Over 400 kinds of  medical herbs are grown with a cultivation area of over 1 million mu. Traditional Chinese medicinal materials recorded in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China with the name of “Bozhou” include "Bozhou berbacious peony", "Bozhou chrysanthemum", "Bozhou mulberry cortex" and "Bozhou pollen".

 

Bozhou abounds in mineral resources, such as underground coal and petroleum resources. The proven coal reserves reaches 5.7 billion tons, accounting for 20% of Anhui province and ranking the third . According to the preliminary estimation, the reserves of petroleum, natural gas and water resources are 5 billion tons, 28 billion cubic meters and 2.31 cubic meters respectively. Bozhou is also rich in mineral resources such as copper, iron, coal bed methane, shallow geothermal energy, and high-quality mineral water.

 

With rich tourism resources, Bozhou has 7 key cultural sites under state protection, 18 key cultural sites under the provincial protection, 3 national intangible cultural heritages and 2 AAAA level scenic spots. It is not only a national famous historic and cultural city, but also is one of the famous tourism cities in China.

 

With abundant human resources, Bozhou is the largest labor export base in northwest of Anhui province. There are nearly one hundred million people and a total workforce of 2.771 million within 150 kilometers, and 1.323 million professioal workers transfer to work in other places all year round. Bozhou currently has two vocational and technical institutes and 29 secondary vocational technical schools, outputting about 20,000 graduates, and training 100,000 migrant workers each year, thus providing highly skilled personnel to different enterprises.
