Bo Chinese herbaceous peony, namely white peony, is a local herbal medicine of Bozhou, which refers to the plant peony under the family of Paeoniaceae or the root of its variant Chinese peony. With big and beautiful flowers, it is a perennial herbal plant under the family of Ranunculaceae, which generally grows for 3-5 years. Harvested between September and October, after removing the soil, it is cooked in boiling water for 5-15 minutes. After taking it out, remove its skin and dry it in the sun. The processed Chinese herbaceous peony is pink white or white, that's why it is also called "white peony".

Bozhou peony is included in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Slightly cold in nature, it tastes a bit bitter and sour. Its root has the efficacies of repressing the liver yang, restraining yin and nourishing blood, stopping sweating and the effects of calming one's nerve, relieving pain and spasm. It is mainly used to cure irregular menstruation, stomachache before menstruation, night sweat and headache, etc. The yield of Bozhou peony accounts for above 70% the total yield of China.
