The proven coal reserves in Bozhou is 5.7 billion tons, accounting for approximately 20% of the total quantity of Anhui province, ranking the third. Sixteen pairs of mineral shafts have been planned with a designed annual capacity of 31 million tons. Guoyang County, Mengcheng County and Lixin County plan to build 12, 2 and 2 pairs of mineral shafts respectively within their territory. In 2012, the energy and chemical industry of Bozhou cumulatively realized a total output value of RMB 9.54 billion, up 12.8% over the previous year. The cumulative production of raw coal reached 9.28 million tons in 2012.
