Ancient Bozhou City “Revived”, Radiates Again Its Past Charm

"It's really a piece of happy news for residents in the old street that 'little Nanjing' is coming back!" Said Wu Gang with enthusiasm, a resident of Pazi Alley in Ancient Bozhou City. To his and his neighbors’ admiration, since Bozhou started the renovation of the ancient blocks, the renovation of 18 streets such as Baibu Street, Pazi Alley, Nanjing Alley, Xinglong Alley and Daxiaohuazi Street is completed, marking a gradual revival of business pattern in this area. As the improvement of living conditions continues in the old streets, the scenes of commercial prosperity have been brought back, and the old streets of this Ancient City “Revived”, reminding people of the old days in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty featuring “One Street, One Commodity” and “One Alley, One Kind of Merchandise”.
Ancient Bozhou City, located in the center of old district of Bozhou, is adjacent to the Guo River at the north and Heping Road at its south. The old streets and alleys, most common in the Ancient City, connect with each other for easy access. Baibu Street is a direct access to the Ancient City as well as an important old street of it. Nowadays, if you walk along this old street made by blueish flagstones, what appears before you is a brand-new scene which has been changed completely.
It is reported that the renovation of the old streets in this Ancient City is in accordance with the requirements of "Regulations on the Protection of Bozhou as a National Historical and Cultural City" and in accordance with other laws and regulations, and the project will proceed in various stages on the basis of sufficient protection of these streets. In the first two phases of this project, 18 streets, including Baibu street, Pazi Alley, Nanjing Alley, Xinglong Alley, Daxiaohuazi Street etc, have been renovated. Now these two phases are completed, and these 18 streets and alleys have witnessed their revitalization joyfully. The subsequent renovation is still in progress.
