On June 17, Xue Bing, deputy mayor of Bozhou City People’s Government, led a team to China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province to negotiate about carrying out economic and trade cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine in Southeast Asia.
Xue Bing and his team successively visited Mohan railway port, border trade wholesale market, Mohan road port and etc. to learn the details about the advanced experience of the cooperation zone in mechanism innovation, land planning, industrial distribution and port construction.
After the field research, the two sides watched the promotional video of Bozhou City and had in-depth exchanges on the next step of cooperation.
Xue Bing pointed out that the border port for the import of Chinese medicinal materials in China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone was about to be approved and it has a huge potential for the future development. While Bozhou, as the world’s largest Chinese medicinal materials distribution center, was currently making every effort to build itself into “World Traditional Chinese Medicine Capital, China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Highland, and the ‘Bridgehead’ for Traditional Chinese Medicine to Enter the International Market”. Both sides had huge potential and vast space for cooperation in promoting the development of traditional Chinese medicine industry. And the two sides could give full play to their respective advantages to strengthen the cooperation in multiple aspects such as Chinese medicinal materials processing and import and export trade, thereby achieving mutual benefit.
Fu Kejie, deputy director of the Management Committee of China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone, said that the cooperation zone would give full play to the geographical advantage of connecting Southeast Asia’s rich medical material resources and broad market and the advantage of policy collaboration, and actively carry out in-depth cooperation with Bozhou City in various fields such as Chinese medicinal materials processing and import and export trade, helping Bozhou to build itself into “World Traditional Chinese Medicine Capital, China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Highland, and the ‘Bridgehead’ for Traditional Chinese Medicine to Enter the International Market”.
China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone is located in the border area between Yunnan Province of China and Louang Namtha Province of Laos. It is located at the key node of China-Laos Railway, Kunming-Bangkok International Highway and Laos North-South Highway. Bordering Laos and Thailand, it is one of the transportation hubs between China and Indo-China Peninsula, one of the border areas with both national land and railway ports and one of the two national cross-border economic cooperation zone jointly established by China and neighboring countries. It is also the first officially approved cross-border economic cooperation zone in Yunnan Province, with a planned construction area of 34.67 square kilometers and a total import and export value of 43 billion yuan in 2023.
Main persons in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Bozhou Customs, Qiaocheng Economic Development Zone attended the negotiations in cooperation.
